Nuclear Track Etched Polycarbonate Membrane

Media Details
Created 11/19/2002
ESEM image of a nuclear-track etched polycarbonate membrane with 400-nm pores. Gold was deposited electrolessly into the pores, leaving an inner tube with a diameter approximately half that of the starting membrane. The "tree" effect was obtained by performing reactive ion etching, which removed most of the surrounding polycarbonate.
